Coke Zero south of the border contains cyclamates, an artificial sweetener that was banned in the US decades ago.

Mexico also told Coke to use a different artificial sweetener.

Personally, I was very upset when we banned cyclamates. That ban was a product of the sugar industry, which was losing sales. It hasn't been shown to cause cancer in people, but studies showed that massive doses could cause cancer in lab rats.


BTW, sugar is the real poison, not artificial sweeteners (except for Sucralose, which causes diarrhea in many people, including myself)

Did you know that a can of normal soft drink contains ten teaspoons of sugar?

So you buy the sugar-free varieties, but they contain aspartame, which many people claim to be a deadly toxin.

If aspartame were a deadly toxin, I would be dead.

I've been drinking 1/2 gallon/day of aspartame-sweetened soda for many years.

Well, not only that, but a lot of anti-Americans get fixated on Coca Cola (and McDonalds), so they're the 'usual suspects'...;)
