State regulators are violating mental health and other laws by allowing health insurers to deny effective treatment for children with autism, consumer advocates contended today.

In a lawsuit, Consumer Watchdog, a Santa Monica group that monitors insurance practices, is asking a judge to order the Department of Managed Health Care to enforce the law and require insurers to provide their autistic members with the services their physicians have ordered......

Sad but not shocking. They have also have called cancer patients and pregent women frauds in order to drop them.

If something like this happened here in Canada, there would be Human Rights Commissions, politicians, and every other legal and legislative body and other groups coming hard on such a company and possibly run it out of the country.Insurance for health here is optional and if you don't have it, you won't go into debt, because Canada has Universal Health Care and is run by the government
