It has come to court now, an art student who faked being mentally ill has now been brought before a court for "false alarm, violent resistance and fraudulent practice"

As a bit of art she pretended to have a serious illness and she wasted the time of doctors, nurses, police and other people who could have been doing something more useful. She faces a civil claim for 1700 US$ from the hospital, and maybe two years jail time for her actions.

I remember someone mentioned this AGES ago. We were all pretty steamed up about it then! I'm glad that they are finally going to put her through court because what she did, as many have said, was just a poor excuse to attack several police and hospital workers. Can you imagine how bad it must have been for the hospital? Having been in a psychiatric ward, I would have found it absolutely terrifying to see a woman behaving the way she did (which ironically doesn't actually happen too often!) and the staff must have been pretty upset too. Also, what if someone else actually NEEDED the staff's help at the time...

What a stupid *words drowned out by a long monotonous BEEEP*

I recall posting the story when I first read it, I am glad that a court will consider what to do with this person. I do not view her as an artist as what she did was not art, call it what you like but do not call it art.

Well, as they say "Trolling is a art".

But really, this person wasted a lot of time and money for her own stupid little affair, it's good to see justice being served.

Well, she is mentally ill,

and you, fellow Aspies...
Can you throw the first rock at her?

That's right. History. As in, not present.

I was aware that she had a history of mental ill health, but I am sure that her state of mind was not so messed up that she did not know right from wrong. I hold the view that it is possible to be mentally ill but retain an understanding of morals and what is right and wrong.

If a mentally ill person does something which is a criminal act without planning the act while in a confused state then would hope that people are lenient.

Also if a person's experience of reality or thought processes are intensely warped through involuntary intoxication and the person does something such as throw a stone at a person while hallucinating that the person is Freddy Kruger, then I would not view the stone thrower to be criminally responsible for hurting the unlucky person. In the book "Mind Machine" there was the case of a poorly trained and normally mild mannered lawncare worker who turned into a monster after getting a large amount of an insecticide (an acetylcholinesterase inhibitor) inside his body. He then bashed a woman's head in with a rock, after the exposure to the acetylcholinesterase inhibitor stopped he went back to normal.

But if a person with a mental illness who is rational plans a crime, and then does it while being fully aware that they are doing something which is seriously wrong. Then I think that they should be held accountable. The fact that she told them the next day that she was perfectly sane and that it had been an art student stunt suggests to me that she knew exactly what she was doing.

The "art" student has been found guilty and was fined 25000 SEK (circa 3500 US$). Pitty I was not the judge, I would have given her community service. Picking up litter and cleaning toilets at the local mental hospital.

Perhapes she could have cleaned a toilet as a bit of performance art, while it might not be art I would rather sit my backside on a clean toilet than a dirty one.
