Oct. 21) -- Teacher's aides severely abused special-needs children at a Montana school, the families of five students charge. One mother describes what her autistic son was subjected to as "waterboarding-like torture."
Julie Parish and Kristina Marie Kallies, who have resigned as aides, are charged with assault on a minor and endangering the welfare of children. Parish appeared in court Monday and was released on bond. Police are still looking for Kallies, KFBB reported.
Parents of students who were in the 7th and 8th grade special-ed class at North Middle School in Great Falls last school year sat in the courtroom, some holding photos of their kids.
Tiffonie Schilling cried as she described what witnesses report was done to her 14-year-old son, Garrett. An aide allegedly held the boy's head under a water faucet when he dozed off in class.
"He was having waterboarding-like torture done to him on a frequent basis,” Schilling said. A fellow student also said teachers made Garrett "eat his own vomit."
Garrett Schilling can't speak because of his autism, so he couldn't explain what was happening, his mom added. "A child who can’t defend himself, it’s a huge violation.”
Other parents told stories of abuse that included a girl being hit in the head with a pan and a boy being locked in a closet.
Parish and Kallies resigned after the families made their allegations, the school district said. Both reportedly denied the charges in interviews with police, according to Montana's News Station.com.
Although school district officials said they did a thorough investigation and are cooperating with police, the Great Falls representative to the Montana Legislature urged the state attorney general to conduct an independent probe.

What it is with all of these teacher-student abuse cases recently? All of these sick bastards seem to be coming out of the woodwork.
And if the story itself isn't enough to significantly lower your faith in humanity, try reading the comments. It's like reading the comments of apologists for the JRC, but possibly worse.
I'm hoping that these two aides spend quite a long time in prison, but given how lenient the system seems to be with people like Wendy Portillo, I worry that it's a bit too much to expect.
