Does anyone else think this whole story is just for show, perhaps to keep the President in the news? I just have a hard time believing that they were able to get past the Secret Service. Are they going to have a reality show called "White House Crashers"? 
I have a feeling I am going to regret this thread......

I don't think the president needs any help staying in the news, but I think the couple very much wanted to be. I'm sick to death of reality TV. I say that having watched little to none of it.

I guess what I meant was, a positive, funny story about the President. He's everywhere, no doubt about it. I'm sorry, but nobody gets past the Secret Service.(I have very recently become extremely distrustful of the media, whether it be the "right" or the "left", and Operation Mockingbird only confirms my suspicions.) My family thinks I'm crazy, but what do I care?

They'll have been focussed on finding threats (like finding people with weapons
) rather than policing the guest list - while embarrassing, these guys were not a threat to Mr. Obama's safety. The secret service guys will have known they were there (they won't have "got past them" in that sense) and that they weren't dangerous, but not necessarily known exactly who they were.
