British Author Dick Francis Has Died

Sad news to pass along to the millions of those who love his crime novels, which were typically set in the world of British horse racing:

A spokeswoman says best-selling British thriller writer and former jockey Dick Francis has died in his home in the Cayman Islands. He was 89. Francis was the author of 42 novels. He was also a successful jockey, winning over 350 races. (Associated Press)

The BBC notes that Francis sold "some 60 million books worldwide and his novels were published into 20 languages."

His "most recent works, Dead Heat and Silks, were co-authored by his son Felix," the BBC adds.......
