I support this. I'm not of the Jedi faith, but if Jediism can't be recognized as a religion, nothing should.

Did he explain why he was wearing a hood or did he just refuse to remove it?

Hmm. I wouldn't mess too much with a Jedi without being prepared.

I don't recall whether it was ever spelled out in any detail in the films and I haven't bothered following all the novels and other merchandising, but...in order to become a Jedi KNIGHT (as he called himself) - don't you have to undergo a rather lengthy apprenticeship under someone already initiated as a Jedi? And since the Jedi are not native to our planet and we have yet to receive any (announced) visitors from elsewhere, how exactly is it possible to become a Jedi Knight without first becoming fictional? Maybe there's a caveat in the rulebook that I'm not aware of. Of course, a Jedi is supposed to carry his own light saber - how can you be a knight without a weapon? And if you can't acquire a lightsaber (a real one, not a Pez dispenser)...then you're not a knight, much less a Jedi.

This is just too vague. What are the rules, what are the rituals, the dogma, the creedo (okay, he's dead - and Han fired first) where is the scripture? You can't call it a religion just because you have a fan club membership card and a Star Wars logo hoodie...

I'll bet those Sith guys have a bible... :study:

I'm not a Jedi, but I am a member of the pro-Jedi faction politically. :D

Jedi's are of the future, in a galaxy far, far away. Maybe this bum is a precursor. :)

*Searches for a loop-hole*

What if... He studied under a talking Yoda doll for several years and caries a laser pointer around with him?

I don't know. This guy sounds pretty legit. I'd hate to receive momentary eye discomfort from his "lightsaber" (AKA laser pointer) that had been charging all night in his mom's basement.

You might not have to be a knight to be a part of the Jedi faith. As for this particular guy calling himself a knight, maybe he's just not orthodox enough to be that picky about titles.

The future? "A long time ago" doesn't mean the future.

isn't there a waiting period before silly things are recognized as a religion? I was pretty sure a founder had to die before a religion got popular.

This reminds me of the time when an eight year old girl wasn't allowed to attend the school party because she refused to remove her cow hoodie.
