Tourists flock to erupting Iceland volcano
A recent volcanic eruption in Iceland has proven a much-needed shot in the arm for country's tourist industry. The Fimmvorduhals Volcano in Southern Iceland began pouring molten lava late last month, Iceland's first volcanic eruption since 2004. Although the initial eruption triggered evacuations of nearby residents, the event was minor enough to allow most locals to return home. A steady stream of visitors has soon followed.

If the webcam doesn't come up, it might mean you don't have Java installed on your computer. The website uses JW Player to stream live views of the eruption. There are 3 webcams, they can be selected on at the lower left of the web page.

Here is a link for Java: http://www.java.com/en/download/index.jsp

Wow, that's awesome! I wonder how they left the camera near the volcano. It must be really far away and zoomed in really closely.

Top Gear were spotted filming an episode at the volcano, should be fun!! !

Top Gear Caught Filming On Erupting Icelandic Volcano?
Notoriously wasteful, ridiculously unfocused and truly entertaining, the BBC's Top Gear TV show has been caught filming an episode in what may be its most dramatic setting yet: the slopes of an erupting Icelandic Volcano. So what, exactly, are Clarkson, Hammond and May up to now?

http://www.motorauthority.com/blog/1044 ... ic-volcano

P.S. The weather is terrible in Iceland at the moment, the volcano is obscured by a snow storm.

I've been keeping an eye on it since you posted the link. And yeah, it's been really cloudy. Luckily, on the first day I was watching, I saw some really beautiful views as the sun was rising. Hope it clears up soon, I'd like to see it again.

^I don't know what timezone you're in but if it's possible you should check the link around 12-2am EST. For some reason it seems to clear up a bit as the sun is rising. Not sure why that is, but it's the only time of day I've been able to see it so far.

Volcanic eruptions, in my opinion, are the most beautiful earth event (although rainbows and a tropical shower come very close). And photos of eruptions tend to be inspirational and dynamic.

That was so unexpected though. any of you seen him?

Perhaps he was doing it for the shock value.

 I wish I had been watching! After screaming I would have laughed hysterically.

I hadn't checked it since yesterday sometime but it seems to me that the second camera has moved. I don't recall seeing that house in the bottom left, or that hill in the middle even. It was just mountains last I remember.

In the UK we're just waiting for the first ash to start falling. It's night time here so I'm wondering if we'll wake up to an ash-covered
landscape ! Most of northern Europe's airspace has been shut down. There were no flights from UK airports today.
