WOW! This story is crazy!

But of course AS kids have been known to get lost alone in nature like this and survive before.

You gotta wonder how they do it.

Perhaps meltdowns are the natural enemy of gators.

I think she just found a secluded spot and stayed there most of the time. Still, even if she brought some water and food... that's a long time.

I am exited that she is OK.

Did you see her 'nice' picture (classic aspie smile)

I am really creeped out that she was found by "prayer". I wonder if she's been somewhere else for a while and has only been in the swamp overnight. Just saying.

I remember getting lost a lot as a kid but most of it was due to me wandering off a lot. Took till night for my family to find me at a camp site.

Glad to hear she's ok.

I saw the guy who found her on the news earlier. Seemed a little out there, said god personally spoke to him to found this girl.

I believe it!! I'm SOOO happy they found her!! Could you imagine how her parents felt - it must've been pure hell. I never really got over the Natalie Halloway story. Her mother is a complete stranger to me but my stomach would tighten into a ball every time I'd see her anguish on the news. I'm very curious for this girl to be interviewed when she is ready.
I'll be all ears. I hope she talks about it a lot.

I'm happy they found her. That's only about 60 miles from where I live.

We evaluate our situation using logic and we don`t get ourselves into a big hysterical neurotypical panic just because we are alone.
I capsized my kayak in the middle of a big lake and was amazed to see NT relatives on shore going into panic mode as I calmly doggie paddled to shore with my kayak in toe. :D

p.s. I have since learned how to get back on in the water -its not as easy as you might think.

True dat. I almost drowned last Sunday trying to learn the kayak roll in a pool class.

I would always run off to explore the woods behind out house back in Ohio. My mum was paranoid that I was going to get eaten by a coyote or kidnaped by the crazy person that supposedly lived in them just waiting for me. I never got lost either. If I were in this little girl's situation I would have hid when people came looking for me or fought if they did find me. I never wanted to be found I ran into the woods to get away from people in the first place.

She is so cute and so funny. I'm glad she made it out OK. I was tickled that Mr. King tp'ed the swamp/ If it hadn't been such an emergency it would have been fun to do that I bet. What an awesome story that is, among all the tragedies we hear about daily.

That's pretty amazing. I never thought of people with AS as the survivor types.

Was anyone else bothered that while she was still lost the news represented her as oh, the poor little disabled girl is lost in the swamp, and then after she was found, and interviewed, and was shown to be really cool and articulate and smart, no one said, here you go folks, this is the face of Asperger's. They actually did not mention Asperger's at all in the ABC news interview.
