BBC reports that German postman, Uwe Mitzscherlich, 39, married his dying cat, Cecilia, 15, in a ceremony officiated by actress Christin-Maria Lohri, who he paid €300 ($295). He used an actress, because marring an animal is illegal in Germany.

Here is the original article with video of the ceremony, from the German Tabloid Bild. Article: "Dresdner heiratet seine Katze"

Bestiality is a crime for good reason. G_d forbid they should try to have children - or kittens? Anyhow, they *might* wish to see a geneticist just in case.

I was going to say, "What a sick puppy......." but that's not applicable. Sick kitty? Yes. :cat:

I feel so sorry for that cat.

First it's dying and then a man wants to...I don't know if I can take any much more of this...

I think you've entirely missed the point. This was a beautiful act of great love and devotion to his cat, now that she is dying. This is something which should be applauded. I find it queer you all immediately assume the worst.

I agree, I don't think anything sinister is going on there. He just loves his cat.

.....At the wedding reception Meow Mix was served. Honeymoon festivities involved Cat Nip frolicking.

^^Greetings everyone. ^^Perhaps this is lovely indeed if the man loves the kitty very much and wishes not to commit naughty acts with her. However, I perhaps believe that she may have been very scared at the wedding and perhaps may also not understand the concept. Therefore, although I do not know Cecilia personally, I feel that there is no advantage in such a wedding for Cecilia. Thus, there leaves only potential disadvantages or neutrality, and therefore perhaps this may have been nicest for her to not take part within this wedding.

^^However, as long as she and the man are happy, that is all that matters I believe.

I thought that was sort of cute, actually. The "marriage" isn't even official and as long as he doesn't have any plans to have sex with his cat then I don't really see the harm.

It's really nothing more than a ceremony to commemorate his love for his dying cat.

Upon further contemplation, how endearing/touching.

But, that being said, hope Mrs. Cecelia is spayed
