I should get an award for going to school every day for three years and getting tortured...

I had a friend who did that, but only because her parents insisted on sending her to school, even when she had walking pneumonia. They couldn't be bothered with her. I'm deeply suspicious of any parents whose children never miss a day.

Ah, if only the educational system was worth something he'd be the smartest person in the world by now.

I rarely miss(ed) school for illness or anything really. The last time I was sick enough to stay from school was when I was ten. Unfortunately, dental appointments and other such things usually make me miss part of the day, so it's not quite a perfect record.

Same here. With my friend, it was if you don't go, you won't get good grades, so you have to, and don't even thinking about coming home early. They pretty much forced her to be the head of the family too; it was really a shame. She was very smart and could have afforded to miss a few days.

If he's gotten through 12 years with no serious illnesses during school days, cool. Either way, he should be congratulated, as he could have missed if he wanted to (16 is old enough to cut without your parents knowing).

LMAO at them giving him £50 worth of gift vouchers!

A part of me, though, asks... Is this really news?

That said, it's not as bad as when there was an actual report on telly the other day about some stupid generic celebrity having 3 million followers on Twitter.

This isn't really that special. There was a set of siblings at my school who made it through school 12 years without missing a day as well. I'd seen their parents before at sports events a few years ago, and she wanted her kids to be perfect in every single way. They would criticize the one I knew from volleyball if they made even one mistake. I felt sorry for them. If I had a parent like they did I'd seriously be dead. 8O
