No offense to the UK, but the logo and the mascots are grotesque.

That is really ugly.

The natural mascot for England is the lion (which is odd because there never were lions in England).

Perhaps a Bulldog?

They are defiantly a lot better than that Logo and I love there names Wenlock and Mandeville good old industrial names from the days when we made steel in this country :)

One thing I noticed in an interview about the mascots is that they referred to them having 'friendship bracelets'. Unfortunately what they actually have round their wrists look like shag bands to me, which is a totally different thing. I'm not sure it's something they'd want to be linked with.

Oh, and whilst the guys dressed up look a bit weird, the cartoon versions are actually okay in my opinion.

How about a bulldog, dressed like a Pearly King?

What's sad is somebody got paid a lot of money to come up with the logo and mascots. I wish I had that job.

"Futuristic, magical beings" Uh... What twisted conception makes the British think that everyone will be one-eyed in the future? <.<

Unless this is supposed to be a subtle innuendo? <.<

I swear that mascots are getting worse, with each Olympiad.

The opening ceremonies are worse. :( For the 2012 games they should just get all the athletes together, say "welcome to London, good luck everyone" and leave it at that. It's like each Olympics they feel the need to have a bigger and flashier ceremony than the previous one.

In my opinion, they're very much aimed at Junior School children (7-11 year olds for foreigners). They look a lot like 'Crazy Bones', http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gogo's_Crazy_Bones#History or http://gogoscrazybones.com/gogos_site.html#photos for some examples of what I mean.

Meh, the opening ceremonies are every countries's way of flexing their ego. The political message it sends is kind of obvious as well. <.<

They look like glorified Teletubbies lol. I'm not from the UK, but I think that they should have gone with something from Harry Potter, which would not have been completely original, but it would look a lot better than the current mascot.

Ah, a perfect excuse for some payback:

Those creatures represent the cheap and cheerful approach to an Olympic mascot without the cheerful.

(The press out of London slagged various and sundry features of the Olympic Winter Games in Vancouver earlier this year, so I'm using this opportunity to slag them in return.

At least they are not as bad as the logo.
