Don't Let any get away topic

I suppose this is obvious, but I thought I would say it again.: Taking a fish oil supplement is helpful to those battling depression. I also take 2000mg Vit C along with it, and I have not had a down episode for a few weeks, since I started. Of course this does not replace other forms of therapy prescribed by a health care professional, though I am not on any antidepressents.

Food for thought:

If fish oil isn't your bag, try some flax seed, AKA linseed.

My boyfriend swears by fish oil, and has gotten me taking it as well. I am not sure if it prevents depression in myself, though it seems to help him with anxiety and perseveration.

I take fish oil supplements 2x a week, mostly for the omega-3's. I'm not sure to what extent it has helped my depression, though.

I take it one capsule every day, sometimes two. I don't think it's helping with depression, but it's good for the skin and lungs, too. Hmmm, maybe I should up the dosage.

I think you need to take about six oil capsules to get the full effect.

I was very impressed with the statistics that showed that there was a linear relationship between eating fish and mental health.

The countries that eat the most fish have the lowest problems with depression and other mental health issues.

Ok, so I'm way off. Thank you.

Is it in part the vitamin D content? I've heard that it helps with depression, which is more prevalent in areas with four distinct seasons, same with bipolar and schizophrenia. I only take one 1000 UI a day right now where it's summer and I have a large garden to tend. Do you know if I should I be taking more of that despite the sun I get on some days?

I get all kinds of conflicting information online, especially in regards to vitamin D and how much one should take. I have a doctor's appointment coming up next month, it's on the "list". :)
