Australia has vowed to fight child exploitation — but is stamping out images of "small-breasted" women really the right way to do it?

Australia's government is "banning" adult publications and films featuring women with "small breasts," says Aussie activist Fiona Patten, on the grounds that such images encourage pedophilia. Patton, leader of the anti-censorship Australian Sex Party, is taking issue with a 2005 ruling which specified that even depictions of women who are over 18 but "appear to be" underage may be judged "illegal." Is this alleged practice a strategic way to fight child pornography, or — as Patten maintains — an absurd reaction to a perfectly normal female body type?

So a woman in Australia is only a legal adult when her breasts reach a certain size?

But what about a 15 year old with unusually large breasts? They might look 20ish and be okay right?

What defines a small breast in this ban? AA Cup? Or anything under a 36DD, which is America's average breast size? Would my 34 C's be too small? There seems to be too much gray area when putting up a ban like this. Everybody's breasts are different, and by proclaiming small breasts indecent you make the small breasted feel less like women and more like pedophile meat.

I don't think this is going to solve many child exploitation problems either as women are entering puberty earlier and getting periods as early as 9 years old (like my cousin); therefore, they will also develop breasts earlier. So younger children have boobs earlier than they used to, so a 12 year old could have DDs and be fine in porn but a 22 year old with A's can't be in it? This won't solve anything.

They assume only underage girls are exploited. Boys under the age of 16 are also at risk.

A poor solution. Better vigilance by police and concerned citizens for all types of degrading imagry of children are what is needed.

My girlfriend is as old as me but isn't tall, has small breast and from her overall apperance someone who doens't know her could think she's 16. Does it make me become a pedophile ?

Even if it did make you a pedophile, would that be wrong? After all, you're not doing anything illegal. Apparently, the concept of "liberty" is something Australia has a lot of trouble wrapping its head around. It's massive, ultra-conservative head.

Speaking of boys, cartoons are on a lot at home and I notice a lot of the cartoons really emphasize the buttocks on the boy characters. I mean exaggerated plumpness and highlights to emphasize roundness. I'm surprised they don't put whipped cream and a cherry on top.

Er, no. The age of consent in France is 15 anyway so you wouldn't have anything to worry about in any case.

The word 'paedophile' is meant to refer to prepubescent children although teenagers below the age of consent are often included in this definition also.

Lots of people who are branded paedophiles are actually attracted to teenagers and are thus ephebophiles.

I have seen middle school students with large breasts and older women with small ones. I really don't understand this law!
