http://www.theroyalforums.com/41790-wil ... oo%21+Mail How awesome is this? Now if only their first born will be a girl! And they give her the names Sophia, Caroline, and Charlotte among others! I'm actually surprised there haven't been more Princess Sophias. The Hanover's claim came from Sophia, Electress of Hanover who was a granddaughter of James I and VI. George I's wife was also named Sophia. Sophia Dorothea of Celle.

This is perfectly run of the mill news.

The Letters Patent of 1917 restricted the style "Royal Highness" to children and male line grandchildren of a Sovereign, and to the eldest son of the eldest son of a Prince of Wales. All that this is doing is modifying those Letters Patent to remain consistent with the declared intention to dispense with agnatic primogeniture.

As for names, if the Cambridge's first child is a girl, I think you can be reasonably certain that the names Elizabeth, Mary, Anne and Catherine will be near the top of the short list.

I didn't realise there was ever any doubt that they'd be princes and princesses, so I learnt something new today, and I'm British born and bred
