The only Pontiac I've ever owned was a Trans-Am, not the best built or most reliable car Ive ever had to say the least.

Pontiac pretty much blows. My favorite Pontiac is the last generation Trans Am. However as sexy as they are pop-up headlights are outdated and stupid, the car itself being a coupe is bigger dimensionally than my sedan and I overall couldn't see myself in one for those and other reasons. The Solstice is more lame than the Saturn Sky equivalent, the GTO was bad deal pricewise and even the "muscle car" Pontiacs were heavy as s**t which allowed the Mustang to destroy them in the handling department as well as in a straight line with LESS displacement.

I drove a Trans Am once and rode in one where we got it up to about 130. I didn't think they handled that well.

i remember my late father told me his first over-100 miles-per-hour car was an 8-cylinder pontiac coupe. the great pantheon of automotive greats is now plus one.

I used to have a '79 Pontiac LeMans wagon, complete with wood on the sides. I miss that beastly ride.

Not really a sad farewell to an American auto manufacturer. Although credited as the first car manufacturer to produce the 'muscle car' the GTO, it was a car that bodyrolled, drum brakes all round and couldn't go around corners. I never owned a Pontiac and never will. There are better car
manufacturers that make better cars.

The GTO was pretty nice. I could take or leave the other cars that the company built.

I'm not sorry to see the demise of the Hummer. The nearest most of these trucks go to offroading is parking with two wheels on the kerb. Or on the head of some unfortunate child.
