One of the victims was the woman's own severely mentally/physically disabled teenage son:

Sorry for multiple links about the same story, but this is SO unbelievable that I wanted to include several sources. This is somewhat akin to Hanna Arendt's concept of the "banality of evil". These people looked and seemed perfectly ordinary. Marceau was a catering director for an onsite restaurant company. Ford was the vice president of a company that sells lab equipment.

They looked and seemed like typical, upscale yuppies who liked to take trips to Napa valley and loved their children. Check out Marceau's myspace profile, this guy seems about as unremarkable and mainstream as millions of other middle-aged America males. No horns growing out of his head or anything.

Ditto for Ford though her own myspace page is blank. How sick does a mother have to be to sexually abuse her own children? :x

It might make more sense if Ford was some meth-addicted prostitute who was raised by the family of inbreds from the Texas Chainsaw Massacre or something.

At first....I truly couldn't believe these people did this. I wondered if they had been framed or something. As far as I know, they haven't been convicted yet, but based on both their confessions and the physical evidence, i'd say it's safe to assume they're guilty.

I'm willing to bet that neither of these ghouls would fit into any diagnostic categories (like Anti-Social Personality Disorder) either which might make this behavior more comprehensible, though certainly not excusable.

Beyond that....i'm speechless. Draw your own conclusions because I just can't make any sense out of this at all. All I know is that human depravity truly knows no bounds.

Is it just my imagination or is there a disproportionate amount of serial killers from the Pacific Northwest?

Considering that some notable forensic psychologist said there is, (don't remember which one....maybe Robert Ressler) it may not be my imagination.

Not that these people are serial killers (but who knows if they're capable of this!! !)....but still.

If I didn't know any better and I was some new-age nutball, i'd say there's some sort of evil "oversoul" in that state.

The FP who mentioned this said they believe it's a combination of the gloomy weather characteristic of the Pacific Northwest (though i'm quite skeptical of that) and the vast areas of lonely wilderness which makes it easier for serial killers to get away with their crimes. The latter explanation seems far more likely to me. There's just alot of isolated regions in the Pacific Northwest and much of it is ideal hunting/dumping ground for serial killers.

Climate may contribute to seasonal affective depression in some people....but pedophilia and serial murder?

"The Pacific Northwest has been home to a number of serial killers. John Douglas, the FBI profiler of the Green River killer, once called the region "America's killing fields," according to former Los Angeles police detective Mark Fuhrman, who grew up in the Tacoma area".

Here's something I found about this at freerepublic.com

Though considering the source, it's no surprise that several who commented on this article blamed it on "too many liberals" in the Pacific Northwest and that "liberalism breeds crime".

That must be why the very liberal Scandanavian countries have extremely high crimes rates in comparison to Jesus-loving conservative America. 2nd

Honestly, someone should kill these kind of people not lock 'em up cause than they suck our money away & risk being able to do this sick stuff again...

Oh most definitely, it's not the humane thing to do but it is more logical.

Wow, this was in my area.

Don't forget Robert Lee Yates, the Spokane serial killer who killed prostitutes and Westley Allen Dodd who was a pedophile and started killing little boys.

Hi, gang, it's me, Scott. I live near Seattle.

I read the first article. Yes, it's sad, but how did it create this thread's hate for all things Pacific Northwest? I've lived in this area most of my life. It is not a bad region of the country. I am really quite sure the events of these articles could have taken place anywhere else. Please focus your hatred on the two people being charged with the crime. Leave the rest of us out of the loop.

Especially considering they may not even receive a life sentence. Ford is only 34 and she could be out in 25 years or less.

I'm not really one for the death penalty and I don't think punishment should ever be based on revenge. IMO.....punishment should only serve as a deterrent and to isolate dangerous people from society.

Still...there are exceptions and i'd say the death penalty could be viewed as "preventative and cheap medicine" in this case. If only they would kill them right away though and not allow them to linger on death row for years filing endless appeals.

Aside from the children who were raped.....there are other victims here.

I can't even begin to imagine how the friends and families of these two feel.

If I was one of their siblings, ( just for one example) i'd hardly be too pleased by the prospect of walking into the office on Monday morning after this story broke.

*shakes head*

People like Marceau and Ford should be thoroughly studied before they are executed though.

Hold on now Scott.....I didn't claim to hate all things Pacific Northwest nor did I say it's a bad region of the country.

First of all...data that would PROVE the Pacific Northwest disproportionately breeds more serial killers than any place else in the country likely doesn't exist.

Still....FBI profiler John Douglas (and other profilers, criminologists, etc...) made this claim and if you clicked on the link I posted from Free Republic, you would see what the reasoning is for making said claim.

Suffice it to say that I don't agree with MOST of that reasoning and have only speculated about the natural characteristics of the PW having something to do with
this if indeed it's true.

I personally did not claim the TYPE OF PEOPLE who live in the Pacific Northwest has anything to do with this phenomenon assuming it's even valid in the first place.

Several "conservative" posters who commented in that article made that claim.
I happen to be about as "liberal" as Noam Chomsky, so far be from me to agree
with them about much of anything.

The only thing I believe (again....assuming the phenomenon is valid) is that the natural characteristics of the region MAY make it EASIER for serial killers to commit and get away with (at least for a time) their crimes.

In many parts of the PW, you can travel from a fairly populated region to an isolated wilderness in a relatively short amount of time.

Isn't that precisely what Gary Ridgeway (the infamous "Green River Killer") did?

He would pick up his prostitute victims on State road 99 and then dispose of their bodies in wooded areas.

IOW....if a disproportionate number of serial killers really do hail from the Pacific Northwest...I don't believe that has anything to do with the weather and/or the people who live there.

I've never heard of Yates.....but I remember hearing about Westley Allen Dodd years ago.

He's another one whose behavior doesn't make alot of sense from the "nurture" perspective. Supposedly....he was never neglected or abused and came from a wealthy and happy family.

Also....I must admit i'm a tad surprised by the number of female pedophiles out there.

This woman only claims to have pedophiliac fantasies she's never acted upon, but either way, i'd say she's quite a disturbed individual. In fact... I have to wonder if she really does have such fantasies and isn't just trying to shock everyone and seek attention.

http://www.wikisposure.com/Alia_Lorae

Perhaps she's merely trying to be something alot of people are trying to be these days when there's really nothing new or shocking under the sun.

That is....."unique", "different", or "original" at any price. And/or to be famous even at the price of infamy.

Alia Lorae's nobel prize winning  poem entitled "beautiful":

"Part of me wants to be a murderer
One night, to take a child's hand and
Walk her away to a room dim and
Hazing under candlelight. Part of me
Wants to breathe kisses into her
spiderweb-thin skin
And hold her tiny body so close that it
Breaks.
And part of me wants to be the queen
With the executioner's hand on her shoulder
By the guillotine, standing
Before grub-toothed crowds who shout and sneer
I hold my head up, beautiful, proud
Cruel and tragic to the bone
Knowing that I will be remembered as my neck
Snaps under cracking blade
And part of me wants to be remembered like that.
And who are you to say that I am not beautiful"?

Ummm....not exactly Emily Dickinson or Sylvia Plath. Well...OK....not bad for a 12 y/o black metal fan who gets beat up by the jocks everyday. Just not good for a 24 y/o person who studied creative writing, theatre and psychology at Sarah Lawrence college.

Hmmm....who am I to say she's not beautiful? Well.....no one really. But who is she to say she's not just another lame ant on the hill? Albeit a rather twisted and potentially predatory, psychopathic and pedophiliac one. I always find it amusing when people like Alia claim they'd face death so bravely and proudly. This little sheltered suburban jerk-off has probably never had a hangnail in her life. So let's just say I have my doubts she'd face the guillotine with the equanimity she expresses in her infantile poem.

Oh well.....everybody's gotta have schtick these days eh?

Everybody has to do or say SOMETHING to stand apart from the hated "sheep".

And frankly....aside from her claims about being a pedophile....there's little else that would set her apart from the rest of her fellow sheep in the counter-trendy "goth" subculture.

A group of folks who've been doing, saying and creating the same tiresome things for about 35 years now. That's one thing the goth and hip-hop "culture" have in common.

So ofcourse....one must do/say SOMETHING that differentiates them from the wannabe herd right? Just claim you have pedophiliac and necrophiliac fantasies and voila!! !....along with your "gothic" self-image....you'll be the most fascinating human on the planet!! !

To a bunch disaffected, self-entitled and alienated spoiled little s**tbags from lily- white suburbia that is. Cuz' you're soooooooooo cool, different, mysterious and misunderstood like them!! !

Oh....and throw in a bunch of pretentious and likely, unfounded, claims about your poetry receiving "outstanding mention" (LOL) and be sure to tell all the gothlings that YOUR written works include YET ANOTHER.... *GASP!! !*...VAMPIRE NOVEL!! ! 8O 8O 8O

*sarcasm*

"Sheep" like me will never understand superior beings like Alia and we're not meant to.

Now to be fair....I really have no problem at all with goths or anyone else for that matter. I actually like most of them as people and I myself find the goth "lifestyle", culture, music, aesthetic, etc...quite appealing though I personally don't feel the need to take any of it very seriously. I just have a problem with pseudo-elitists who pretend to be so different and superior to everyone else.

And that's exactly what I think this Alia Lorae may be....a big phony who might fool a few guillible people and that's about it.

Now this woman...OTOH....obviously wasn't just attention-whoring or something:

http://offender.fdle.state.fl.us/offend ... onId=45886

Gotta love the s**t-eating grin she's wearing in her mugshot

She's been arrested for raping prepubscent minors and she's smiling.

*shakes head*

It's little wonder that Lao Tzu was so digusted with humanity that he supposedly jumped on a horse and road out to the desert never to be heard from again.

What is sad is people see a couple who looks like that they feel safe around them letting their guard down trusting them so much they allow their children to have slumber parties at their house. While I am truely a nice person who just does not want to be bothered but I am big and scary looking people move to the other side of the street to avoid having me walk near them in the dark. I have broken up fights, help push cars stuck in the snow, helped a stranger get help when she was being molested by foster parents and I even went out of my way walk a women to the police station after her boyfriend beat her up but I am still judged by my appeance making me someone to avoid or mistrust. I will never get NT's and their monkey like antics.

What strikes me is their mug shots.

They look like the kind of people you wouldn't suspect and normally I don't judge a book by it cover.

Yeah, I get that all the time.

I guess I'm a bit imposing and grim and I rarely smile or make eye contact... Hence, I'm constantly discounted as being mean, stupid or 'up to no good.'

People like that should get life in prison (I don't believe in the death penalty) , but they also need to get help, both the abuser and the kids. Maybe the abuser had a rough childhood, like they were victims themselves, and has problems mentally. Alot of people turn out that way. But they should still be locked up so no more people are victims. People like that shouldn't be "out there"

Actually, the people who commit these types of crimes are the ones you wouldn't expect to do so. Ever seen the documentary 'I, psychopath'?
