Thank God, those games were so overrated!

They were absolute classics; at least II & III were. I loved them back when they were seriously underrated :D. Anyways, Rock Band is the way to go. Abuse me if you must, just for liking these games, but I'm just saying.

Weird, I thought it was still really popular. Guess the phase died out. Ahh well.

I like Guitar Hero. I still have the very first one for PS2. I still play it every once in awhile. It's a fun game and it's the only reason we even bought a PS2.

Instead they intend to concentrate on COD. I'm getting mighty bored of COD. Its ok and everything, but where is the variety? Guitar Hero was at least a different thing to do.

I'm pretty sick of rap garbage on every station. What makes me more sick is that about 99.9999999% of NT girls fill their iPods with it or beg teachers to play it. Don't they know there's other singers besides Eminem and Rihanna?

Only NT girls listen to the music you say is on every single radio station? So is the whole population NT girls, or are the other members of the population deaf?

I'm an Aspie male and I listen to Eminem and Rihanna. They're good artists. They make quality music.

Best nip this in the bud fast. Regardless of what you choose to listen to, mainstream charts and radio airtime have little to do with the popularity per purchase of any given artist, and that has been the case for decades. Remember Parklife by Blur? The whole album was on every form of media that could reproduce sound pretty much constantly for about two years. It STILL gets airtime. At exactly the same time, Draconian Times by Paradise Lost OUTSOLD Parklife. Nobody heard a peep about them or that album. Nothing. That's before we even get into prescribed play-lists for DJs, and proscribed do-not-play lists...

Finally. I have had to put up with 'Guitar Heros' for years now. I was a well known guitar player in my high school and many of these kids would talk to me as if we were fellow musicians. When I asked them what kind of music they play and how long etc they often say 'oh well I play a lot of Guitar Hero'

Which is doubly ironic because I used to spend a lot of time "schmoozing" bands in my old job. They were ALL s**t at Guitar Hero. Non-transferable skills it seems :P

Guess some people just can't take the heat in "the business". :P

Yeah, I totally suck at guitar hero. I've gotten pretty good at guitar over the past 6 years, it would have been nice in a way to be able to transfer that skill over... Alas, I think the only musical benefit that games like Guitar Hero can impart is a sense of timing and song structure. As for guitar technique, well... No lol.

Why would the skills be transferable? A guitar has a number of strings, and a fretboard that provides many thousands of possible combinations of ways to touch the strings. A Guitar Hero controller has a "strum bar", five buttons corresponding to five ranges of notes, and (on the more elaborate controllers) five more buttons that can be used for HOPOs. (Rock Band 3 introduces a controller that uses strings that sense which one has been hit, and has 102 buttons on its fretboard; this one can be used to introduce new players to the basic concepts of guitar playing, but still does not give anyone mastery of the guitar.)

I recall seeing the band Rush attempting to perform their own song, "The Spirit of Radio", in Guitar Hero. They failed out in the first verse, because a Guitar Hero controller is in no wise like a guitar, other than its general shape.

(That being said, for a "dead" game, Guitar Hero: Warriors of Rock has been awfully lively on my XBox this past week...) :)

See I wouldn't be adverse to Guitar Hero if it was a decent way of actually learning some real guitar techniques. Might also give it a bit more longevity. Though you couldn't actially TELL anyone it was a "learning game" because learning isn't cool.

Oh, I see - you're this guy...

Seriously, it's like hating on the Halo series because the controller doesn't work like a real assault rifle. That's not the point!
