Maybe he's heard something about autistic children liking the pressure of things like heavy blankets. But the point of a heavy blanket isn't to stop you getting out of bed!

I'm not impressed by the judge's comment: "Quite how you could believe this was right is difficult to understand when a doctor told you the child was not autistic." (quoted in the Daily Mail). It could be understood that this might have been appropriate had he been autistic, which it obviously isn't.

Moron sums it up quite nicely.

Welcome to Doncaster. Sadly there is a history of horrific abuse in the area, which the local authority is completely incapable of dealing with, because the local social services are at best incompetent amateurs, and the local authority are unfit for purpose, whilst the local MPs are too busy pretending to be international statesmen to care. (Miliband, Flint and Winterton.)

Maybe the defendant needs to be evaluated... it sounds like his interest in bondage took him places he just shouldn't have gone. I've never heard of anyone recommending helmets, blindfolds, surgical collars, ankle restraint and straitjackets for any condition. Positively medieval.

He was - according to the Daily Mail:

Quote:
The judge also commented on the stepfather's fetish for bondage gear although there was no suggestion of any sexual abuse of the child.

A psychiatrist's report on the stepfather recognised his 'preoccupation with devices designed to restrain persons' and said he was a risk to any child in his care.
