Even if Obama was born in Kenya, he is still a U.S. citizen, right?

Currently, Title 8 of the U.S. Code fills in the gaps left by the Constitution. Section 1401 defines the following as people who are "citizens of the United States at birth:"

* Anyone born inside the United States *
* Any Indian or Eskimo born in the United States, provided being a citizen of the U.S. does not impair the person's status as a citizen of the tribe
* Any one born outside the United States, both of whose parents are citizens of the U.S., as long as one parent has lived in the U.S.
* Any one born outside the United States, if one parent is a citizen and lived in the U.S. for at least one year and the other parent is a U.S. national
* Any one born in a U.S. possession, if one parent is a citizen and lived in the U.S. for at least one year
* Any one found in the U.S. under the age of five, whose parentage cannot be determined, as long as proof of non-citizenship is not provided by age 21
* Any one born outside the United States, if one parent is an alien and as long as the other parent is a citizen of the U.S. who lived in the U.S. for at least five years (with military and diplomatic service included in this time)
* A final, historical condition: a person born before 5/24/1934 of an alien father and a U.S. citizen mother who has lived in the U.S.

He was born in Honolulu, Hawaii.

It was even proven by his birth certificate but people said it was fake. Shows how even proof won't settle it.

I have heard that the certificate was only posted online, but Obama has never actually sent it to a variety of independent groups to have it verified. That could just be the rumour mill hard at work.

The fuss is that conspiracy people can never be satisfied, just like the people who think Pres. Bush ordered the Twin Towers blown up. No engineer expert will ever satisfy them. They have a certain world view that comforts them better than the truth.

No court ever required this degree of proof from anyone. Besides his mother (who is American) has said where her son was born (Hawaii). That is quite sufficient.

I'm not a birther. I am just wondering why no one brings up this constitutional point and end the discussion once and for all. Is it all theatre for the MSM?

Now that is interesting.
I first came to Australia at the age of ten. I was born in America. My mother was an Australian "war bride".

I went back several times and worked in America for a little over a year each time.

When I tried to register my two Australian born children I was told that they didn't qualify because I would have had to have lived in America for 15 years and that the first ten didn't count.

Wombat: If you are an American citizen, then I should think your children would qualify also.

My son was born abroad, has a foreign father, and we had no problem getting him an "American born abroad" document.
We were also given a handout saying that he MAY be eligible to run for president one day, but the issue would probably have to go before the Supreme Court first as there's no clear rule at present. I thought it was funny that they actually had a handout printed up on the subject; a lot of parents must think their kid's going to be President some day!
