Just when you thought Glenn Beck was crazy enough, he had on his show a self-described End times prophet who was there to explain how the riots in Egypt, and the labor protests in Wisconsin are bringing about the reign of the Anti-Christ. Is there anyone in WP who convince me that there is at least a modicum of sanity in any of this? Or is in any way defensible? I just want to know, because I'm sitting here, getting angrier and angrier that there is an audience who believes this crap.

Well I like the bumper sticker thatsays "the religous right is neither"
See majority of our country is Christian, so those on the right exploit the religion to win ellections and pass inhumane laws like the patriot act....all in the name of a corperate gold studded Jesus.
See I dont think Beck is religious at all, instead he is using a religion to spin the republican agenda.

He knows an opportunity when he sees it and could probably care less about how crazy it sounds as long as it satisfies his target audience. Some people, though, on the religious right don't like the fact that Beck is Morman and are suggesting that he is a false prophet. They probably will keep watching his show, though, just to keep an eye on what he does.
I have to admit I used to watch his show just to see what he was going to come up with next. I find Hannity and O'Reilly predictable and boring in their standard comments. But, Beck is like a three ring circus.
In an article in the "USA Weekend" he said he didn't consider himself a political commentator, but rather a pop culture commentator. The fact that he can get away with most of the things he says and keep the audience he has is a commentary on our culture, in itself. Looks like he is having a crazy good time doing it, and getting wealthier by the minute.
Can you disagree with Beck, when he says himself, that he is a pop culture commentator rather than a political commentator?
Pop Culture Commentator means that his comments are about our popular culture, not about what he necessarily believes in.
When he brings in the guy to talk about end days and current events; he is following along with popular culture, reinforcing it with commentary, getting his audience excited, and getting wealthier doing it. Some Televangelists do it in a similiar fashion, but Beck gets a bigger Audience on FOX because his audience thinks he is a serious political commentator.
What research are you talking about in regard to the reign of the AntiChrist. People have been suggesting events and people are related to this for over a thousand years. The element of it in our popular culture is as strong as it has ever been because of the availability of information accross the globe: dead birds, dead cows, dead crabs, etc. I'm in no position to judge the belief, but it doesn't take much research to figure out that Beck is jumping on the Bandwagon for this one.

And research what? That our president is the Anti-Christ, involved in a conspiracy of labor unions and Islamic radicals to bring about a world wide caliphate? No amount of legitimate and sane research is going to confirm that. And besides, this idea of the coming Armageddon, the Anti-Christ, the rapture, and the whole Millennial shebang is not accepted by the majority of Christians, but has become the central focus of evangelicals and fundamentalists, who are really just a marginal religious minority - but make much more noise, and wield far more political influence than their actual numbers justify. Just because some religious nut who thinks he's an end time prophet just because he appears on Glenn Beck doesn't make it so.

Yes, I read a synopsis of it on another site before I posted. Did you read the opinions that some on the religious right have that Beck has scary similarities to the antichrist? Some televangelists present scary similarities between Obama and the antichrist, Hitler, etc., etc. Different people; similiar ideas about an Antichrist.

Beck did not say Obama is the Antichrist, I seriously would like to see you source your claim and odds are, I can probably debunk your source right off the bat.

Actually, in regard to Obama as Anti-Christ, I was thinking more of Beck's delusional guest who had earlier written an article on how Obama had much in common with the Anti-Christ. And that is in fact verifiable.
But even still, Beck's ideas of the end times and the Anti-Christ are hardly mainstream, which he seems to be claiming that he represents.

If you bothered to read what I posted, you would know that Beck was referring to the current leadership of Iran that even the guy that took over Iran around 1979 thought this group was insane, they are that nuts over there. While you want to quote Beck out of context to make him look crazy, if you actually had bothered to check the context you would find what Beck said was completely rational and was backed up.

Again, I don't believe in the Anti-Christ, other than as a reference to the Roman Emperor Nero, who had persecuted the early church in the 1st century. The idiots in Iran are the Islamic equivalent to Beck and company, but I hardly think any of them are the Anti-Christ.
And then there is the idea of his that the pro-democracy rioters of Egypt are in league with organized labor, protesting in Wisconsin for a continuation of agreed upon benefits, are all somehow trying to establish a worldwide Muslim caliphate. Beck in fact has been raving about this paranoid fantasy for weeks now.

It doesn't matter what you believe in this case, it matters what the mental cases running Iran believes, last I checked you weren't trying to develop Nuclear Weapons, nor were you funding Terrorists.
