Seriously, what the heck is wrong with people? If you're not capable of loving your kid, then you shouldn't have one. There are no excuses for that.

That's horrible. At least she didn't abuse or neglect her kid and her kid is finally getting the help she needs.

Don't be so judgmental folks. Being a mum isn't always easy. I can sympathise with this woman, I kinda understand a bit of what's going on. I love my daughter more than anything else, even my dog , but if I'm really honest, I have to admit that over the years there have been times when I haven't liked her very much at all. More so in the years before her diagnosis. But I always loved her.

I had a colicky baby and I am oversensitive to sounds, so I got pretty close to going literally insane from the incessant screaming of my baby night and day. Luckily he quit after 6 months. If he'd continued to scream up until age 7, I'm not sure what I would have done, but I may not have liked him at all.

When I found out at 20 weeks my baby was a boy, I felt very disappointed and I didn't feel the same about my pregnancy. But then when mom told me how boys were easier and it be good for me, I started to embrace I was having a boy. I felt happy again. I love my baby just the same but I still wish I had a girl sometimes every time I see a cute outfit. I say to my baby " Why couldn't you be a girl?"

I can never understand why moms (especially of the middle or higher class) have to be so goal-oriented with their children. It's like if the kid fails to meet a certain quota in their life, it's considered the greatest tragedy in the world and the mom is dubbed an ultimate failure. A child failing to meet their milestones is a very low brow reason to hate a child. If you can't show any support for children who lag behind for whatever the reason, they're gonna grow up with really really low self esteem and then they'll become far less motivated to try and catch up. I hope this girl never find out that the article is talking about her and doesn't result to this.

Also books and websites on child care should be used as recommendations not strict guidelines for exactly what parents must do in order to raise the perfect kid. It's not gonna happen for everyone. In fact I'd say raising the perfect child is not gonna happen for the vast majority of the world. Parents should be working with the kids' imperfections and not fighting them. That's a problem I'm seeing all too much with parents in our society.
