SOPA BILL: http://www.gpo.gov/fdsys/pkg/BILLS-112s ... s968rs.pdf
http://judiciary.house.gov/hearings/pdf ... 203261.pdf

Everyone's freaking out. I would be scared too. My two biggest websites outside of this one are Tumblr and Youtube and I more than often use them both at once. Youtube provides me more than even the video stores could provide as far as what I want to watch. If it scares you too please sign every petition against this bill you encounter.

Wow, that's awful. Maybe it's finally time, now, for the USA to become a true dictatorship.

I've done my share to spread the word on this, now... I hope most others will, too. It's basically the end of a functional Internet, in the US.

Stop Online Piracy Act

Means that any website that posts or shows any copyright material is in danger of immediate shutdown by the government. This includes major websites such as Youtube and Facebook and even Google and Yahoo.

Like hell it would happen. I mean think about places like businesses, not facebook or tumblr but companies like say Wal-mart or even schools too, that use the internet. If they censor it, everything will come crashing down. The idea of this happening is pretty stupid if they actually do do it. I bet you a lot of people use the internet for many things.

My dad said the only reason they are doing this is because of politics. They think that censoring the internet will stop people from putting down republicans, helping the poor people or bashing Obama. That's all.

If they did do this, I would be crying nonstop. The internet is my only means of everyday communication with others. I need the internet to help me with my autism and to help with communication.

Doubt it's going to happen, too many people have jumped in along with businesses.

A lot of advertisers make a lot of money from third party copyright content. I don't think they would be too happy at all. I would definitely not be happy at all.

This sounds even worse than the DMCA. I can't imagine this to be successful.

Can't imagine this happening.

I think people having easy and free access to entertainment is the only bread and circuses keeping western civilisation reasonable civil

Dear Moog, with greatest respect to you, This country forcibly sterilized young black or "simple-minded" women, allowed lynching for decades, promoted and provided frontal lobotomies on both sexes, all ages, often with next of kin not knowing , and experimented on unaware victims, oops, 'subjects',while investigating the effects of mind-altering drugs.in the 1930's and 1940's it was illegal in California for a 'Caucasian' to marry a Mexican, Filipino, or 'Negro'.....a trivial little thing like media control is SO possible in America. And, in some quarters, is quite desirable....Sylkat

Well I guess that shows they have the will to do it. That and Moog is using an argument from incredulity.

It's also known as the 'Protect IP Act'.

An article from Swedish Svt about it: http://svt.se/2.22584/1.2605180/America ... nyheter%29

Dodgy translation in English: http://translate.google.com/translate?s ... heter%2529

By the way, this isn't about YouTube, etc., but the whole Internet in the US. Maybe the subject of the thread should be changed. It's basically a form of what China uses. Go China! Apparently that's what American politicians think. Why have democracy, at all? It's already so broken, in the US, that I suppose it might be removed, entirely. China is very successful, economically, after all - maybe that's how they are thinking. The USA needs something fresh to get out of the economical crisis. =_="

When I saw the title the first thing I thought was democrats but, to see that there even republicans who signed on with this idea - If it passes through the house I get the feeling that it would slide though the senate faster than watermelon seeds through a duck. :pale:

I think the voters need to know exactly who these RINOs are, hopefully someone from their own party will step up and challenge them for their seats.

It's not an argument it's an opinion. I'm not even saying I'm right.

Not everything everyone says is an 'argument'

This does speak volumes about how you view what communication is for.

Sylkat's opinion or 'argument' or whatever seems to revolve around saying 'look at other bad things that people have done'

I'm not even sure what the purpose of your post is. If you disagree, then do so?

Respectfully to both of you, if you don't like my opinion, you don't have to agree. No problem.
