Policys of New National Government

conservative National has won by a hair's breadth, leftish Labour has suffered dismally, the environmental Greens broke the 10% support mark (a major milestone for the party), alarmist New Zealand first has been resurrected (despite a financial scandal last term, due to a meeting between the Prime Minister, National, and a supporting party, ACT, in which one of them aledgely made derogatory remarks about the elderly), and the far right ACT party has imploded to just one elected member who isn't even the leader. The indigenous Maori Party has suffered due to it's decisions this term and that two leading members will leave at the end of this term.

Not mentioned is that people on a restricted driver's license for more than 3 years will have to reapply, right from the beginning - if National can pass the legislation.

I agree with reforms to the benefit system but have strong concerns about National's Plans. They also ignore that the cuts to funding levels have caused impoverishment, have long been proven to be such, and can be a barrier to finding and keeping jobs (why apply for a job when you cannot afford the transport to get there, for example?).

Also I agree we need action to protect the economy but am unsure if the pledges given are the best thing to do - though that said I am not a qualified economist.

The Issue over "asset sales" is foreign ownership causeing profiteering and a sharp rise in electricity expenses. Households are already hit hard by a rise in living costs and the poverty line has risen. There is also a loss in dividend revenue that means long term income is reduced - we gain immediately from the sale but risk losses in the long run, so there is strong pressure to invest the gain wisely.

I was sorry to see that. The asset sales just seem like a way to move profits away from all Kiwis to those who can afford to buy stock. But I suppose that's what conservatives are good at.
