A very brief stroll though PPR will demonstrate that there can be a huge amount of chauvinism among supporters of different sources of news and information.
To me it doesn't so much matter where one gets one's news, but rather how one gets one's news. At a minimum, news should be read with two principles: diversity of sources, and critical reading.
Divrsity of sources: Read news stories from multiple perspectives. Read the papers that you disagree with, so that you understand what the "other side" is saying. Read foreign coverage to understand what international audiences are reading. People who limit themselves to a single source of news, or to multiple sources all drawn from the same editorial bias will, perforce, have a more limited understanding.
Critical reading: Always be aware of the biases and prejudices inherent in the source from which you are reading.
Journalistic integrity is dead. All "news" sources nowadays are nothing but partisan propaganda catering to the brainwashed masses. You literally have to read about 20 different news sources and then make up your own mind if you want information.
Now that's just sad.
