This is the fifth time her son has stolen a car in three weeks. Cates is baffled by his motives.

He's probably desperate to get away from her.

Of course they never quote the kid because he's a ret*d. Bloody fools.

I prescribe a foster home and some music lessons... Or at least some music lessons.

Mom seems to be on the spectrum too from what I saw of her in the clip.

Underage hot wiring of cars is quite common here and the police don't usually follow because a chase ends up with fatal consequences.

Or "asperser's"...

I think this is a case of parents who were too lenient and couldn't properly determine when to punish their son or not. You would think they would get the idea by the second time he stole a car but I guess it's going to be up to the courts to show this young man what he can and can't do.

At least he's got a fascinating "urge". If a 14-year old kid has driving as his special interest, why can't his mom just take him to drive go-carts (if you can drive them at that age in Texas) or some kind of realistic car simulator.
He probably spent the time other kids use on being social and having friends on racecar video games.

Either he likes driving and should be a chauffeur or race driver (vermontsavant on here is a chauffeur) or he wants to get away.
