Dr Naghi Momeni by name, of Linnaeus University. Somewhat unmodestly, he speaks of himself as a future Nobel laureate.

I can't provide links per forum rules. More to follow. For now, see the search engines, especially the interview in Swedish daily Östra Småland, "Autismens gåta löst på Linnéuniversitetet, En upptäckt värdig Nobelpris" on March 29.

...This is mainly an english speaking forum, I would need a translation to read that.

edit: I did read the girl with the dragon tattoo series though :)

I tend to be sceptical of people who blow their own horns too loudly. He may be a future Nobel Laureate, but I am the empress of the Milky Way Galaxy.

As for a cure for spectrum disorders, if so, it comes too late for me. I am in my early 50s. No cure will infuse me with the knowledge of how to socialize or read social cues. Neither is there a cure for my introversion. And what about the physical aspects of spectrum disorders? Although I am not at the extreme end of the sensitivities traits, I am somewhat sensitive to loud noises, bright lights, certain smells and tastes, and skin sensitivities. Also, what about the mental input/output processing glitch that causes my time lag in responding to stuff? And lets not forget the mental and emotional overloads that cause extreme stress, shut downs, and melt downs.

I'm not from Missouri--the "show me" state, but if someone is claiming to have a cure for spectrum disorders I say, "Show me!"--Prove it!--Put up or shut up!

Now excuse me while I go count the stars in my empire.--Empress of the Milky Way Galaxy

Apparently he believes he may have found biomarkers for a blood test, in the new research above, to screen for autism, but I couldn't find any evidence that he actually thinks he can cure autism.

Blood samples for one healthy control (female) and four patients (two females and two males) were not possible to analyze owing to the too small sample volume, resulting in 30 controls and 28 children for children with ASD for further studies (For participant details, see Table 1). The ASD group comprised more males and was insignificantly younger.

30 controls, and 28 asd's.........not much, but it's a start. i don't see too much for this, it seems to be concrete, but it's a small study. as for a cure, the study was published less then 2weeks ago. and he is 1 of 6 scientists, prob. talking it up, not any more then that, he couldn't have done much more w/ the study results in 2-3weeks?

Finally a way to diagnose autism spectrum disorders. I mean really diagnose it, not just play a game of guessing. One more step on the road to getting rid of psychologists and psychiatrists.

Viewpoint from a different researcher, than the topic researcher, involved with the study.

Quote:
Bergquist is quick to point out that he doesn't see autism as a disease to be "cured", rather that it is a different type of personality that can be supported and cared for quicker and earlier.

Thanks for the link! It's Naghi Momeni's statements and attitude that are disturbing. I'll get back with a translation of the grotesque March 29 interview.
