Sally Ride 1st American woman in space has died.

Quote:
In 1983, Sally Ride became the first American woman in space. She blasted off aboard Challenger, culminating a long journey that started in 1977 when the Ph.D candidate answered an ad seeking astronauts for NASA missions. Ride died today in La Jolla, Calif. after a 17-month battle with pancreatic cancer, her company said on its website.

She was 61.

What a brave woman! She and her ship-mate Judy Resnik who died in the Challenger disaster were top notch astronauts.

Godspeed Sally, and journey on....

May another member of the Thirty-Five New Guys (TFNGs) rest in peace. Sally Ride did much more than just fly in space, she was a role model for young women everywhere.
