For a few isolated instances, I started considering the possibility Romney would be elected president. It was 9pm, and I was about to begin my dreaded l-serf (communal kitchen clean), and, checking in over someone's computer shoulder, the electoral map had Romney some 90 units over Obama. Whoa, I thought, it was gonna happen after all. So I popped a Rat Pack comp in my ghetto box and started l-serfing with the amusement of thinking, seeing the day after of a Romney victory at hippie headquarters USA, was gonna be sweet as lollipops.

"Luck be a lady tonight."

In all actuality, I supported Romney and wished to see him win. Not only did I truly believe he would have a shot at fixing up the messed-up economy, but I also applauded his dignity in campaigning against such outsider typecasting. Mormon, square; he was stiff and focused, and misunderstood, as anyone with Asperger's. There was that, too. I had my emotional investment. After seeing all the anti-Romney, "Vote Democratic" propaganda all over Twin Oaks all month, it would be delicious seeing all the hippies, who didn't even like Obama anyway, get good and screwed.

Who votes for someone they don't even believe in? A phony. At least Romney's people were really voting.

"Pretty soon, it'll be Donnie & Marie, 24-7, for the next 8 years" I had been "joking" all night. Joking, quotes. Anything to wipe the smug off would be an improvement for me. And, had Romney won, for once, I could be the only 1 out of a 100 with a reason to smiley face. But, no. Another 4 years of Grateful Dead. Another 4 years of hope & change. It's like a dream come true. And nobody is better equipped to survive the dream than me. I thrive when I know I'm out. Lots of luck getting 99 passive-aggressive neurotypical hippie conformists to rewire my circuits.

Obama won but he's still a loser. Malaise is seeping in like gas prices, unemployment and cyber advertising. Well, China is resting easier tonight. And so is Twin Oaks.

I'll take a comic book nerd over a Mormon square any day of the week.
And I voted for Obama because I do actually like him.

I voted for that Schmuck Romney because I feared Obama, the spirit son of Saul Alinsky more that I feared Ken Doll Mitt. Once again I had to chose what I considered the lesser of evils. Obama has a gut hatred of the U.S. as it was visualized by the Founders. He wants a People's Republic.

this is interesting to me mainly because when i was younger & having difficulty getting a job, i seriously considered applying to a place like Twin Oaks to live.

i did not know about Asperger's then, but the kind of structured life i read about there seemed like something i could deal with, even though i am a very private person. i eventually found another way to move out of my parents' house, but i still like many of the ideals there--particularly the egalitarianism built into the system. (things i did not like: the male/female ratio--in the late 70's that is--& a location in the South, which i was wanting to escape.)

i would be dismayed by the mere existence of a Romneyite at that place, except it only points out to me their open-mindedness...

as for the other commentators here (sigh), i don't care to argue, except to say that much can be said against the real Obama, but not these fantasies which have now proved fruitless outside of talk radio.

I think Obama actually loves America. He just doesn't want to f**k the country like Romney.
