Last night, my home state of Washington did what people thought wouldn't happen - we passed gay marriage by popular vote. And so the march for civil rights continues.
Same with Maryland.

Add Maine to that list.

Plus Minnesota rejected a constitutional amendment prohibiting it.

I could care less about gay marriage.

I do think that marriage is a religious institution. That means that whether or not a church performs gay marriages should be strictly up to the individual church and there should be absolutely no interference either way by the state. If a church chooses to perform gay marriages, that is their right just as it is to not perform gay marriages.

For the state to prohibit gay marriage is, to me, a clear interference with religion.

i'm happy for my gay friends who can finally marry one another. but i'd be more proud of my state if instead of the tim eyman crap passing, how 'bout a similar law requiring 2/3 majorities for the establishment of tax loopholes.

s**t, I didn't know that. Now I feel a little less elated from last night since knowing that.

At the moment, in Scotland, gay people can have civil partnerships, which more or less gives the same rights as a marriage. Our government plans to legalise same sex marriage too. But, there's a huge argument going on, with the Catholic Church, and recently Stonewall gave their 'bigot of the year' award to Cardinal Keith O'Brien (the head of the Catholic Church, in Scotland). Maybe, some day, it will happen.

Gay Americans in many states had had recognized civil unions, which were marriages in many ways, but in name. But that leap to the full rights of a married couple were never fully covered. And the fact is, introducing the person you love as your husband or wife will always have a greater expression of your special relationship than just saying, "Hi, this is my civil partner."

I agree. As long as I am not forced to watch (ugh! yech!) I have no objections.

I doubt many - regardless of sexuality - would want anyone to watch.

Am I the only one that thinks the exchange of bodily fluid is gross no matter what hole it's going in and what particular chromosomes the participants have?

If I am forced to watch though I'd prefer naked females over naked males. I don't understand why porn for heterosexual males often contains male body parts and other gross vulgar things. :eew:
