I just heard there was another shooting in Pennsylvania with four dead. What the hell is wrong with people?

Probably some idiot wanted to get attention for himself, or thought continuing a possible "trend" of violence is OK.

You should have said: What the hell is wrong with some people.

Not everyone shoots other people.

This is what happens when the "news" treats news stories like entertainment. People will do anything for 15 seconds of fame.

^ No, this is what happens when people who should not have access to guns have access to guns.

The new story says nothing on how he got access to his weapons. For all we know, he stole them. I don't qualify that has him having access to guns.

For all we know, he owned them.

For all we know, he found them.

For all we know, he made them.

For all we know, he was transporting them.

For all we know, he would have used his truck as a weapon instead.

Oh, that's right, he did!

He was determined to kill people, and not having a gun would not have stopped him.

You don't know that either. The CNN story you posted said he did use his vehicle as a weapon, which suggests that this was a person out to kill no matter the weapon and cost.

He's not the only copycat. There has already been several instances of people using the CT Shooting as an excuse to get violent. (link)

Here is a RT story that includes more copycats.

Charlie Brooker's Newswipe. At 1:40 (I guess the YT function doesn't support starting in the middle of the video), the video introduces Dr. Park Dietz, a forensic psychiatrist, who says that the way the media delivers these types of news stories encourages more mass murders. The whole video is worth a watch.

I know nobody ever mentions the name of the guy who shot the beetle who's name escapes me ATM because he said he did it to get famous. Maybe reporting what happened, but not who's responsible would help discourage copycats.

DO we know if it's intended to be a copycat? Given that it sounds like the shooter was just walking down the street picking victims at random, it seems like one of those paranoias letting loose on Mayan Apocalypse day...which is almost over where I'm at.

Probably some idiot thought it was going to be the end of the world so he decided to shoot a few people before it all ends.

Well I bet he will be in for a surprise. :P

There was a doomsday cult in Japan that did exactly that, except they disseminated chemical poison in the Tokyo subways.

This is what I think happened with Adam Lanza too.

My very empathetic spouse, thought from the get go thought that Lanza might have been jealous that his mother was providing attention to the school children, in a pathological way. That was before information was released that the mother was potentially working on having Lanza committed. At this point there is only second hand reports of this information that has not been substantiated, but the potential is being investigated.
