Has anyone done a study on kids with weird names from birth until adulthood and beyond? It's not like this is the first generation, so I imagine you could take a look at how it impacts them, and like what percentage change their names and stuff.

She'll probably go by a nickname once she figures out how stupid her parents were being.

I agree.
I hope she does not get made fun of and bullied because of this name that they have selfishly given her.

Some people just have a different attitude about names. Like they are just labels.

Frank Zappa got a lot of flack for naming his kids Moon Unit and Dweezil. Franks take on it was, "Hey, if they don't like the names, they can change them any time they want to." (Paraphrased)

Quote:
Well, first of all, I knew that they were going to be unique anyway because of certain other attributes, so why not have a name that goes with it. They all like their names and the kids at school do too. They don’t make fun of them; in fact, most of them are jealous of their names. You know, it always amazes me when someone who is in my age group, or even younger, asks me a question like why did you name your children that. It’s a reactionary kind of question. Why the f*ck not name your kids something like that? They’re having a good time. Besides that, if they ever wanted to change their names they can do it. It only costs about $15.

He's also got two kids named "Ahmet Emuukha Rodan" and "Diva Thin Muffin Pigeen." To date, they all go by their given names. If they don't have a problem with it, why should anyone else? It's their kids, their names. Anyone can change their name if they don't like it. It's not that hard.

Intelligence is genetic, so she probably won't care.

The worst thing is not only that it's a word, or a word linked to something trendy, but that it also sounds awful. Makes me think "hedgepig" or something.

I wouldn't do it myself, but I think we pick names we like don't we? There's no way to know if the kid's going to like it, and most kids hate their names at some point anyway.

In the early stages of growing up, the kid isn't going to know his/her name is weird, and will be used to it by the time he/she learns it's unusual. In this day and age, I don't it's nowhere near as odd to have an unusual name. They're far more common now than they used to be.

But you said my name!

No I didn't!

Yes you did! etc
