With the recent shooting by an Autistic, what will you do in regards to your disability?

There is no correlation. That's like comparing criminal likelihood to a person's hair color.

Sorry. That's all I'm saying.

This thread feels trollish.

I would hide it even if the shooter was NT. Or the shooting never happen.

I thought the question was what would you do if an autistic person shot a place up. Honestly, I would call 911, unless I had a gun, in which would be aim at him/her and if necessary, shoot.

i'm suspecting he didn't kill those kids at ALL. he was drugged to kill his hated teachers that's all. the second shooter did the rest. the second shooter also killed his mom to silence her because she would've drastically changed the narrative had she been alive.

there is no solid proof yet that adam lanza is the shooter even. until he's proven guilty beyond resonable doubt, we can only speculate. it's not fair how the media jumped to the scene and was like aspie did it aspie did it. he's dead, you're telling the story of a dead guy. his mom is also dead. you have absoultly no information. if the cops shot the wrong guy and blamed it on him, how would you know even?

i'm only speculating here, but so is the media.

Three people who were shot survived the attack. Two adults and one child. The media are being kept away from them at this point. So there will be eyewitness testimony. Adam Lanza was still alive when first police arrived and first policeman saw him run into room, heard more shots and when he and partner got to room, Adam was on floor shot once point blank in temple. He may not have been dead yet, but was declared dead on arrival at hospital. Forensic, ballistics, and possibly security camera will also contribute to the body of evidence. It has already been established all the victums were shot with one rifle, that which was found with Adam. One of the pistols was not used, and the other fired once point blank into Adam's temple. A second shooter is always a possiblity, which is why the school was searched top to bottom 4 times in a row. But the chance is seeming more remote as the evidence is processed. I believe his mom was shot with same rifle used at school.

You are right that the news presentation has been fueled by much speculation and unconfirmed report. The reporting of this case, especially in the beginning with among other things, mis-identifying the older brother, seemed particularly screwed up. The throwing around of the Aspergers diagnosis for days before it was confirmed, and as a possible cause was especially irresponsible as it has the effect of assigning blame and stigmatizing autism/autisics erroneously.

Tell only people I already trust. Although to be honest, I grew up in the 80's, am a girl, and was therefore pretty much "closeted" my whole life because no one would suspect it, and it never saved me from bullying and hatred. Whether they hate us because of ASD or because we're just "weird", they will hate us.

EDIT: It's bugging me: of course, having grown up in the 80's, I'm not really a "girl" now. :D

Tell people I'm autistic and I like shooting, duh (that's me being serious. I am and like that).

Well, I wouldn't tell them because I don't talk to people, but I would if I did that.

my test responses were genius level. my bloodline goes back to the early arrivals of the Bay Colony and auld Plimouth. Only when i am tested on how i socialize do i have average results, this is something i was told in 2oo4. it makes perfect sense to me that sir isaac newton is a male aspie. john nash evidently was brilliant and mathematically gifted, but the odds are its alan turing who was genius level and an aspie, if i assume the retroactive diagnosis of sir isaac newton is correct. odds are high that temple grandin is correct about thomas jefferson, but if we are careful, ben franklin is too social a being. i'd be overjoyed if someone proved that edmund burke or john adams were apies. we must be careful, and something done retroactively is a second guessing after the fact...

I stopped telling people about my AS years ago. Not because of how I fear they will see me, but because it never made a real difference in the way they treat me or made them more understanding to the difficulties I have as a result. Some would even scratch their heads as if they had no idea what I'm talking about. It felt like a waste of conversation to explain something far too complex for their understanding.

But if people start stigmatizing people with Autism and AS as a result of this shooting I will not tolerate it and I will make it known that I will not tolerate such stupidity.

I don't tell anyone and I only tell if they ask which never happens. I will still mention it online.

I am aware there is no connection between them, but since people are steryotyping us I wanted to know reactions, didn't mean to offend anybody

That's true for me, only a few people that I trust do know about my Asperger's, such as my family, fiancee, and some close friends. Other than that, I've been pretty much closeted about my disability. I wasn't even diagnosed until I was an adult, but I was "different" enough to become a target of bullying, so if I knew about it then, I would have stayed in the closet since it would have made the bullying much worse.

Strap on my puzzle ribbon and my pistol and light up a cigar, but that's what I do normally.

I guess I would say then that I continue living my life...and being the Aspie that I am.

Although I hate the term Aspie.
