The ten year anniversary of the Columbia space shuttle disaster was back on Feb 1st. It looks like FOX remembered. But I was watching NBC and they didn't mention it at all. I was a senior in high school when it happened. May the Columbia astronauts rest in peace.

I vividly recall the first shuttle disaster, but sadly enough, not the Columbia.
As embarrassing to admit it might be, when it first happened, I remember my initial thought being that they were simply recalling the first shuttle explosion.

Does anyone else remember the Apollo 1 disaster?

That may have been a little before my time, but I do recall that it had happened.

I remember the Columbia disaster; I was sitting at my dining room table, there was a loud boom like a sonic boom and it rattled all the windows.

The Challenger disaster had better pictures. The space shuttle takes off and explodes and we see this clearly. With Columbia, it broke up on re-entry, we see little bits of flaming debris falling to earth. It's not quite the same.

I remember Columbia. I watched it happen live on TV. It was my second time to witness a shuttle disaster, the first time being Challenger in 1986.

on the other side of the pond, i seem to remember reading about some gruesome mishap in the soviet space program where a capsule returned with dead cosmonauts in it.

ABC and CBS both showed bits about the anniversary of the Columbia disaster. For me, I was told about it as it was on a weekend when I tend to sleep in, as it was relatively early in the morning.

Even then, nobody including Fox mentioned the Apollo 1 disaster.
