I do. I though Seth Macfarlane did a good job as host. No real big surprises in the Oscar winners. The only thing that surprised me was the Life of Pi director winning a Oscar instead of Stephen Spielberg.

i remember johnny carson waggishly saying something to the effect of "the oscar ceremonies are 30 minutes of sparkling entertainment, spread out over 4 hours."

To the best of my knowledge, I've never even watched even a minute of the Oscars.

I rarely see movies in the year they came out. It is probable that I haven't seen any of the movies that were covered by the Oscars.

In addition, even if I watched the movies and liked them, whether or not they win any awards for them is completely meaningless to me.

Also, I'm not going to watch any movies simply because they have won an award. Of course, having won the award probably means that they are more likely to be shown on tv in the future, so there is probably a somewhat greater likelihood that I will see a movie that has won an Oscar.

The Academy should consider asking Seth MacFarlane to return to host next year's Oscars. He was hilarious!

I thought he was terrible, but I guess different people have different tastes.

No I didn't watch that, I've hardly even seen any movies that came out this past year....just a few, seems like nothing that good really came out. I don't really watch t.v so I missed most previews, I did however decide against going to the movie theater a few times when I had planned on it because nothing looked good.

The only ones I specifically remember seeing are The Hobbit and 7 Psychopaths, those may even be the only ones I mostly watched older movies...some I had already seen and some I never have.

There were some extraordinarily good films this year, not least of them being Life of Pi, which was (in my opinion) far and away the best feature film of the year.

Its hard not to be cynical about the Oscars. After all, its really just the movie industry selling movie tickets by giving awards to itself and then adding to their movie advertisements "Nominated for 7 Academy Awards!". Plus sometimes the films they nominate and then win just seem completely detached from reality - way too much politicking. I can at least get down with some other awards presented by organizations of journalists, etc., but when its the Academy it seems a little too self-serving and self-congratulatory.

I have trouble thinking of something more inane than the Oscars. I am loving the Seth MacFarlane coverage. I didn't watch it, so I have no idea if he was funny, but Of Course he was offensive. That's what he does. These self appointed awarders keep picking hosts who are 'edgy' and then being shocked and offended when the hosts don't bow down and treat them differently than they treat everybody else.

But really, does anyone deserve to be offended more than the Hollywood elite?

I don't watch the Oscars on TV, but I do watch the highlights on SBTV. My attention span isn't too good and I don't like to stay up too late.

I was just thrilled that Quentin Tarantino and Chris Waltz won for Django Unchained, that was a movie and a half and certainly the best thing I saw last year.
