Today's yellow press news in Germany:

A guy tries to kidnap a child. The guy's mother says that her son has Asperger's.

Do you think that kidnapping and Asperger have anything to do with each other?
Do you think that media often connect Asperger with bad/criminal behaviour, even if it makes absolutely no sense?

Yes, absolutely. It infuriates me that Autism is brought up in cases where it is not even slightly relevant. There are some rare cases in which it is necessary, for example, I have heard of an Autistic man who deliberately caused damage to objects, animals, and children who caused sensory overload.

Unless the crime committed is directly linked to Autism, the perpetrator's diagnosis/suspicion/self-diagnosis should not be disclosed at all.

They're probably just doing this to autistics now because they've been having a harder time doing it to blacks in recent years.

I think that "the media" will never get it right, no matter how they portray us.
