Sweden's excellent English language newspaper, The Local, is reporting today a story that many will find shocking. It transpires that a country well known for its left-Liberal attitudes is now allowing convicted rapists of young children to adopt.

According to the paper:

"A Swedish man convicted for molesting a five-year-old girl in his neighbourhood has been given the green light to adopt a child of his own, as Swedish authorities said they did not fear he would relapse into criminal behaviour."

This seems ... strange. You'd think it was a hoax, were it not for the actual news articles showing otherwise.

According to other news sites, local authorities are demanding an investigation into how the adoption was allowed, questioning the thoroughness of the initial assessment of the adopting man, who is the young child's stepfather.

It looks like a stepchild adoption, which suggests that it probably didn't change much, as this man probably already has lots of contact with this child.
