3 year old missing in Scotland

Odd story been running for the past 24 hours or so here in the UK.

3 year old goes to bed at 9:00pm (I believe he had been unwell and was up late), mother goes to wake him up at 7:00 am and he is not there. His coat and shoes are gone too.

large manhunt been underway since yesterday morning around Edinburgh for him.

not a huge amount of detail has been released on the family but it is understood he lived there with his mum and 4 siblings. Police confirm they have spoken with all family members, including the father, and say there are currently no signs of any criminal behavior.

Can a 3 year old seriously get himself up at night, get dressed, open the front door and go for a walk only to then disappear? sounds unlikely but the way the police are talking it does sound like that is their main focus at the moment

Latest from the police is that he [or a similar looking child] was seen on CCTV at 08:30 yesterday morning running along a street.
It is great to see so many people turned up to help look for him today. I hope he is found safe soon.

Just now on radio news the Police are saying he may have been subject to criminality, or words along those lines. No one has seen him. I find the whole thing a bit off. It is possible that a child that age could get out of the flat, but then to vanish into thin air?
