I can't believe this doesn't get more attention than it does. They need to end DST.

As explained on http://www.standardtime.com

Daylight Savings time is useless but it is very harmful.

As a Albertan who has to put up with DST, I can't agree more. That one hour shift, despite being a small thing for most people, f***s things right up for me. I like being able to have some semblance of a consistent routine, especially on days where I have to go to work or school (the former currently, though I mainly started having problems with DST with the latter), and that one hour shift forces me to wake up an hour earlier, get ready an hour earlier, and go to where I need to be an hour earlier.

I wish we would just do what they do in Saskatchewan and Arizona, and not practice DST.

This is a very antiquated idea that should have never gone into effect. It is confusing for all, and all of this for one more hour of daylight? I could understand if we were still using candles for illumination, as it would save money on candles. But goodness, we're in the 21st century. I agree with ending DST. But as a mere civilian, I cannot do anything except to whine and complain here. Nevertheless, I am happy to read that others agree with me. Maybe one day, a law will go into effect that will send DST to the hell it deserves to be in. Until then, I can only hope.

I have a more simple solution than them. Why not have one unified world time zone that is set to the atomic clock? Problem solved.

Feh. I could care less. I'm used to DST.

I love daylight savings time! I work evening shift and sleep late, so I actually get a whole extra hour of daylight.

I really don't understand the opposition. I like DST - here known as "sommertid" - a lot. Especially living up here at the 56th parallel, it makes good sense to make better use of the bright hours, instead of being woken by birds singing at 4am.

Day light savings doesn't affect the sky really. It's just another institution for "the man" to keep us down. Or so I've been told. So, yeah, I lost an hour of sleep, woke up to the sound of my dad making his usual "dad noises" since it's still flu season (and even the cats are sick), and I earned myself another one of the worst rude awakenings for an Aspie Misophoniac like I haven't had enough of those already.

Yes, thats it. The entire world should just use Universal Time (UT) all the time. Very simple solution.

Well we are at it, could we come up with a decent numbering system for time, that actually utilizes all of the digits. Something like this:

000 Midnight
250 6:00AM
500 Noon
750 6:00PM
999 11:59PM

I actually pay no attention to time. I do not own a watch, clock or cell phone. Only the clock on the bottom of my computer reminds me, and it is usually incorrect. I have no use for time.

I wish I were that carefree. I find I'm often obsessed with keeping track of the current time.

The rest of us seven billion live on planet earth, and have to be on time for jobs, and have deadlines. So we dont have that luxury.
