I have been mostly avoiding the news of late. Too stressful, and I am working hard to overcome a stress disorder. But last night I watched some foreign news on YouTube, and I really am concerned that WW III is right around the corner. Islamic State, Ukraine, Hong Kong, Ebola, national debt, world debt, etc., etc.

I know a lot of you are not in the US, and the news here is no longer worthy of being called news. So I am looking for perspective. Even if you are in the US, what do you think?

If by WWIII you mean the world vs. ISIS, then yes.
But you know, the U.S. could obliterate them all with one nuke if we wanted.

Nah, it's just the same old SSDD. One crisis after the other. Nothing new there.

We have allies all over the globe ready to wage war on ISIL Sounds like the world is getting ready. But this time, instead of fighting nation states, we would be fighting a terrorist organization that has captured for itself a country.

Dropping "a nuke" on ISIS controlled territory would do nothing to scath ISIS. It would be like going after mice in your house with a wrecking ball- you would destroy your house, and fail to scath any mice. So that statement doesnt make any sense.

i can't call them "good" or "bad" but these are certainly....interesting times to be young. think of all the stories we could tell our children and grandchildren about the world we grew up in...

the global war on terrorism? the last declaration of war by the US congress was in 1942, all these modern military operations aren't as formally declared like they used to be, they're "sustained counter terrorism strategies", semi undeclared, military engagement, targeted force...thingies.

most our enemies aren't actual unified nation states like they were in WWII. (and if they are we don't recognize 'em). so there's going to be confusion.

Along with plenty of civilian death and damage to the planet....but who cares, just not sure nukes are a good thing to resort to since they kind of f*** up a lot more than the intended target.

But then there's the matter of cleaning up the goo the human and animal bodies have been reduced to.

POWs (who are later shot) would do the cleaning.

Good way to get our officers and political leaders hauled before a war crimes trial if we lose the war.

ISIS fighters can withstand nuclear weapons? I thought only cockroaches could do that.
