There's a lot of '70s influence in the collections.

The Lanvin dresses are particularly artful. Are you quite into fashion?

A couple of films about Yves Saint Laurent came out last year, and there's renewed interest in his work at the moment. The designs in these photos have a certain Yves Saint Laurent look to them.

Love Lanvin...the dresses as so nice and flowy. I like to wear flouncy skirts in the summer.

I think high fashion is a great example of textile art. The way these designers are able to work with a fabric to make it behave in a certain way amazes me.

One thing I don't understand, why do they always use the skinniest 1% of people for these fashion shows? Most people don't look like that.

Good question. I think with haute couture, the clothes are art more than wearable and they basically want a moving mannequin whose body doesn't distract from the clothes.
But for everyday wear they should put people of all shapes and sizes on the runway, so that the consumer can get an idea of how the clothes fit their body type. (Rather than changing their body to fit the clothes.)

Oh I also love the light blue dress from Alexis Mabille, The hip part so reminds me of a 1920's dress. Love it! I also like the flowy dresses from Elie Saab, even though they are to reveling for my liking.

I don't understand that either, but thankfully France just passed a new law requiring most modeling agencies to hire people who are not the skinniest 1 percent.

I'm not sure I like that either. Some people are naturally skinny without starving themselves. I think it's fine that these people can be models, the problem isn't that there are skinny models but that nearly ALL of them are skinny. Would be better to have a wider range of models, but banning the skinniest is discrimination. Why should someone skinny not be allowed to model?
