Imaging study demonstrates how 'social brain' areas of brain is functionally impaired in autism

Article shows what we have to deal with. Possibily useful information about Autism is often desemminated through ableist language.

Too many functioning synapses inhibit cognition while requiring extra blood flow."

Correlate that with,

"A search of Harvard-affiliated hospital records failed to find many patients over the age of 55 who had been diagnosed with both Alzheimer’s and any type of autism."

and you just might have an indication as to why at least some people on the spectrum seem to have reduced severity of some of their AS/ASD symptoms as they age, and why they seem to lose less cognitive abilities compared to controls as they age.
