The study involved 133 adults.

60 men participated in the study. 40 of them were eating in the presence of one or more women, and 20 were eating alone.

The study was performed in North America, a subset of the WEIRD culture, as are the majority of psychology studies.

I wouldn't want to generalize this to *all* or even most humans based on that data. Just saying.

I remember hearing about this as, it was part of a study and the results somehow indicated potential behavior patterns of early man which, are still in our genetic makeup or something along those lines.

Maybe the woman is a really good cook :D .Rarely have I had someone leave the table with food on their plate.They get real quiet when they concentrate on the food.

I imagine people eat more when around other people in general, for obvious reasons.

Lol. Maybe they are subconsciously sending a signal to a potential mate indicating they love food and their partner needs to be a good cook.
