http://www.etonline.com/news/179052_mash_star_wayne_rogers_dies_at_82/

Quote:
Actor Wayne Rogers died on Thursday surrounded by family after suffering complications from pneumonia, his rep exclusively tells ET. He was 82 years old.

Rogers, who hailed from Alabama, is best known for playing the role of Captain "Trapper" John McIntyre in the classic television series M*A*S*H from 1972-1975.

...

.....hugely successful career as an investor, real estate developer, and money manager.

...

Prior to becoming an actor, Rogers served in the United States Navy. He also had a history degree from Princeton University.

I was astounded when I heard his age. I was / am such a fan of the show, "M*A*S*H", and forget that it was on, so-long-ago.

Also, I always love reading about a celebrity that is / was ALSO a military veteran.

R.I.P., "Trap".

I started watching M*A*S*H as a kid in it's 2nd season. It's still my all time favorite tv show ever. I was a bit shocked to see this when I got online this morning but not overly surprised as the cast is getting up there in age nowadays. R.I.P. Wayne Rogers "Trapper John"

Yes, he was in the Navy.

I liked B.J. better, but Trapper John is part of the MASH family.

RIP Trapper John.

So, that's twice, now, in recent history, that 2 stars have died within hours of each other (Wayne, and Natalie Cole); before, it was Michael Jackson and Farrah Fawcett.

Also, before, it was a black male and a white female; this time it was the exact opposite. (Just an Aspie observing patterns.)

That guy who played for Motorhead also died.

Yes- celebs always die in groups of two, three, or four.

Its tempting to see patterns. Like divination.

Back in previous years there were interesting juxtapositions. Mel Blanc died about the same time as Lord Olivier. That the man of a thousand voices (for Warner Bros. cartoons) would die alongside the man of a thousand faces (one of the greatest actors of the 20th Century) seemed curious at the time to me.

both you and CC would have been the first to wonder how those people on Gilligan's island couldn't leave the island despite the skills of the skipper and the smarts of the professor.

To be honest, I was surprised to learn he was 82. He'll be forever young in reruns.
