I don't get it. If she's not upset, why is everyone else?

Hmm...they didn't bother to get a quote from the protesters (other then a chant). Culture clash here. You have some very conservative culture values that seem alien to us. Part's of India still have issues with the caste system, although it's must better then it used to be.

They're upset for the same reason many people here would get upset if they'd see a couple having sex in, say, the middle of a public square. To really understand that reason, we'd have to be NT. (I would not upset me at all if I saw a couple having sex in the middle of a public square, my only response would be not to keep looking at them because they're having a private moment and one should respect other people's privacy.)

If someone did something like that in public, I would hope there was a nice, big hose and a fire hydrant nearby.

Me, too. Ever see a movie called Wicca Man, (or was it Wicker Man)? Anyway, there is this scene where people are having sex right out in public. It was rather disturbing.

Something to do with their fertility rites if I remember correctly, with intermittant shots of Christopher Lee mumbling at a couple of erotic snails...

I have it on DVD at Uni.

Major culture clash.
I must be missing something. I don't understand what the big deal is in India with public displays of affection. Even if it is taboo, WAKE UP AND SMELL THE COFFEE PEOPLE!

Well that's what those people in India thought, too... Why would you feel offended/scared/upset when other people do something that is not hurtful to you or otherwise bothersome (e.g. noisy or bad smelling) and does not involve you in any way?

It's just a cultural thing. In the US it seems just about anything goes.

They were upset there because the culture in India is much different than here. They do not show public displays of affection there and considerate it distasteful and very disrespectful.

The Wicker Man from 1973 or the new one?
