The Federal regulators are set to give final approval to Charter's buyout/merger of Time Warner Cable (TWC) in the coming days.
The new Charter would be the second biggest Cable and ISP company slightly behind Comcast in size and market cap.
This buyout/merger is set to unleash more competitive pricing and other stuff if everything turns out right.

After this merger there will be 5 national cable and ISPs left in the U.S.
Those will be:

1) Comcast
2) New Charter
3) AT&T
4)Verizon
5)Brighthouse (not available in all states).

More competitive pricing? In every city I've lived in there has been a city-sanctioned monopoly in place for decades & thus no impetus for competitive pricing.

This is why I've been saying we should stop the No Rates Regulations of Broadband Internet Access Act. Low Data Caps, Outrages Fees, Throttling, and Exempting Services made into a law and the worst part is that the FCC has no authority over all of it. This is evil!

The FCC has voted this week, with an announcement coming next week.
There is a good chance the merger has won approval with conditions.
