This is terrible.

This is a crisis of monumental proportions.

You have mostly decent people seeking to migrate from war and famine, risking their lives on the path to Italy and other parts of Europe.

They were teen girls. So they were a hot commodity being transported somewhere, from somewhere in Africa. Trafficked by someone. And something went wrong, and like the shipping containers full of tires, or toys made in China, that fall off the decks of cargo ships in storms all of the time the human freight got accidently destroyed in transit.

That's my guess as to whats up with this.

The human trafficking problem is piggybacking upon the trans Mediterranean refugee crises.

We cannot imagine what these migrants go through BEFORE they get to Europe. That's the hardest part.

And when they get to Europe.....they face all sorts of crap. Most people probably go for the sake of their kids, rather than themselves.

The kids of immigrants, actually, usually make it quite well in their new countries.

I felt pretty bad today while I was at my library job. Luckily, I started reading about migrants; this gave me perspective.

I guess that I didn't make it clear what I was trying to say.

Millions of desperately poor are trying to cross into Europe via rickety boats across the Mediterranean. And many drown.
But in this case it was an odd demographic: the people found drowned were all teenage girls. Makes me wonder if they were not just migrants but were being trafficked for prostitution.
