one of the limitations of the adversarial judicial system is monsters like this get their day in court

Given the US special forces pumped Bin Laden with bullets rather than giving him a trial why doesn't El Chapo get sent to Guantanamo bay where they slowly torture him and extract intelligence about drug operations in Mexico?

You're assuming they actually killed Bin Laden.. maybe they did, maybe they didn't, we'll never know - all we have is the official story & no body because they dumped it at sea.. dude's probably chillin' in a palace somewhere.

But for the purpose of comparison, let's just assume Bin Laden is dead. USA won't just off El Chapo because of how much money is at stake. There's probably a lot more, but there's $14 Billion in assets that the USA wants. That's why El Chapo isn't dead. 14 Billion+ reasons why.

Uh, because the USA pretends to govern itself by rule of law? So, they're kind of obligated to follow their own systems and processes. El Chapo is too high profile of a criminal to hide away in Guantanamo. It's unknown war criminals who get taken to club G-bay for a little information extracting vacation. No way the USA could get away with shipping El Chapo off there. Plus it's really good PR for the Trump Administration to put a high profile Mexican criminal kingpin on public display as they prosecute him right now. So many reasons, really.

So if no witnesses come forward then what?

What do witnesses (of what?) have to do with my post? :?

Trump says Mexicans are murders, rapists, and terrorists. Putting a high profile Mexican criminal on display is good PR for that narrative & will "speak to his base." That was my entire point, regardless of what happens with the trial, witnesses of any sort, the outcome of the trial etc.

I’m assuming you mean if they cannot get any jurors to have a jury at all.

Dunno. The American legal system is not my area of expertise. My best guess is trial by judge alone.

Maybe the American legal system will get lucky and it’ll be a recent appointee with zero judicial experience not expertise, you know, just in case this is the last trial s/he ever tries. 8O

*I do not actually want any judge to be executed. I don’t particularly care for the recently nominated/appointed “conservative values,” types.
