Woman who killed rival at Portland strip club gets 15 years

PORTLAND, Ore. (AP) -- A woman who fatally stabbed another woman at a Portland strip club has been sentenced to 15 years in prison.

The Oregonian/OregonLive reports that 25-year-old Rinita Lowe pleaded guilty to first-degree manslaughter and unlawful use of a weapon.

Lowe had been arguing with Shantina Turner at Club Skinn when she pulled the knife from her purse and stabbed Turner three times in neck.

Lowe's defense attorney, Jason Steen, said surveillance video from the June 2016 incident showed Turner choking Lowe just before Lowe stabbed her

Deputy District Attorney Kevin Demer said the women had known each other since childhood and had a history of tension.

Lowe apologized to Turner's family at Monday's court hearing.

Lowe got what she deserved.

Thanks for posting this news story. It was rather bizarre. I bet this sort of thing happens a lot ... but you don't always see this sort of thing in the news.

15 years and will most likely be out early with "good" behavior... She deserves more for her crimes.

i read someplace a while ago, that there is a higher percentage of sociopathy among adult entertainment industry performers, than among the general public. i wonder why that turns out that way?

sociopaths don't have to be "damaged goods" but instead are more likely "black sheep." my sociopathic older brother was raised the same as the rest of us, even more tolerantly as he was sickly as a child. but he still is evil. you'd have to know him to know what I mean. I would not put murder past him if it suited his purposes.

I don't buy it. People who work in porn or sex industry don't really cause harm to others (although porn addiction can be a problem). Same with people who work in casinos could be sociopaths but again unless you are addicted to gambling what's the big deal...

On the other hand there are plenty of sociopaths who get work where they control other people and derive joy by causing pain.

I do believe the industry attracts more sociopaths but this woman would more likely be a psychopath.

The worse I ever personally saw were two strippers in their bras and panties trading insults. One called the other: "God's gift to women." Never saw anything closer to violence.

It got too expensive for me. My wife and I did go to one of my old haunts a few years before our daughter was born, though. Got really spendy that day, and my wife didn't like the girl's makeup getting all over her when she gave my wife a lap dance.

Yes it seemed more appealing when I was a drunk and and in my 20s
