It's lovely to see someone going into the teaching profession who genuinely cares.

I often wonder if my life would have taken a much darker turn had it not been for two teachers who were there for me, supportive, encouraging and who befriended me at some very dark times in my childhood. I often wish I could tell them now how much of a lasting positive impact they had, and far into my adulthood, the legacy of their warmth, understanding and kindness stayed with me as a guiding light through the darkest times. They are (I would assume) both long dead now, they would both be well over a hundred years old if they are still alive. I was at risk of suicide as a 14 year old adolescent and often wonder if that would have been my fate, but for intervention of a teacher whom I hardly knew - but prescient enough somehow to perceive what I was going through.

A good teacher can change the course of a life, and leave a lasting effect for good.

I'm glad you had those teachers. We should recognise the teachers who go above and beyond more.
